Obnews Tech Desk: Another major achievement has been added to India's efforts to bring electronics manufacturing to new heights in India. On Wednesday, Railways, Information and Broadcasting and Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav shared a video, in which he was seen testing the laptop of VVDN Technologies built in India completely.

This laptop is a proof of the increasing steps of hardware and electronics manufacturing in India under the 'Make in India' initiative.

Every component manufactured in India

In the video, Puneet Aggarwal, CEO of VVDN Technologies, says that the hardware, motherboard, body, chassis and software of this laptop have all been developed in India itself.

  • The quality of this laptop is in line with international standards.
  • However, the video does not give much information about its specifications.

It is considered a major achievement for the Indian electronics sector, as this will help India to become self -sufficient in building laptops and other hardware equipment in the future.

VVDN Technologies laptop and its features

According to the website of VVDN Technologies, the company provides entry-level laptop solutions for the company OEMS (original Equipment Manufacturers), which various brands can rebrand in their names and sell it in the market.

Potential Specifications:

  • 14-inch display
  • Intel Celeron Processor
  • RAM up to 8GB
  • SSD storage up to 256GB
  • Microsoft Windows 11 Based on Operating System

It is worth noting that VVDN Technologies will not sell this laptop with its brand name itself. This laptop would come in the market under the name of other major tech brands.

Hardware manufacturing in India is getting a boost

The Government of India is constantly encouraging local hardware production under 'Make in India' and 'self -reliant India' campaigns.

  • Under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, companies are being encouraged to set up manufacturing setups in India.
  • This will reduce the cost of electronics products manufactured in India and will reduce the country's dependence on imports.

Laptop and tablet import ban

In 2023, the Government of India banned the import of laptops and tablets to promote production in the country.

However, the ban was lifted later in view of the lack of supply, so that companies could get time to prepare their manufacturing setup.

Due to the strong policies of the government and plans like PLI schemes, India is now moving fast towards becoming self -sufficient in the manufacture of laptops, smartphones and other electronics products. In the coming time, this laptop may be available in the Indian market by the name of major brands.
