New Delhi: In a major development, the authorities in Lucknow have decided to shut Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport for 8 hours on a daily basis for the next five months. The move has been taken in view of a major revamp operation and other maintenance.
According to report, flights at Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport will be affected during the daytime flights for five months.
Flights operations will be affected due to runway maintenance and other modernisation work. The renovation work will start from March 1 to July 15. The airport operation will be shut daily from 10 AM to 6 PM.
The necessary approvals for the maintenance process has been secured from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Keeping in view airport renovation plan, several airlines have made changes to their summer flight schedules.
During the renovation period, 35 or more flights are likely to be canceled.
Earlier reports suggest that the airlines have been asked to refund passengers for booked tickets. According to a report in News18, around 20,000 passengers are likely to be refunded. It is said that that more than 80 flight are likely to be affected on a daily basis.
Some of the airlines have rescheduled their flights at the Lucknow airport before 10am and after 6 pm. And most these airlines are likely to operate their flights Kanpur airport due to Lucknow airport disruptions.
