The chill of winter is still very much in the air and many of us are still struggling to keep on top of the laundry.

Even when it is dry outside, it can take a long time for clothes to dry, and often, you end up confused as to whether your clothes are still wet or just freezing cold.

But one expert has shared their tips to get your clothes dry when putting them out on the line isn't a option.

Lora Finn, laundry expert at Vileda said there are a number of ways you can maximise your indoor clothes drying potential but if you are in a rush, Lora said you can use the "Swiss roll" method.

She said: "Thick, heavy materials like denim can take a long while to dry, so I recommend ensuring that these items are spun sufficiently when in the washing machine, removing as much water as possible.

"But if you've just washed your favourite pair of jeans and need them in a desperate hurry, then give the 'Swiss roll' method a try.

"Place your jeans on a clean, dry bath towel. Then, roll the towel and your jeans together, so that it resembles a Swiss roll.

"Press down along the length of the rolled towel to squeeze out the excess moisture, remove the jeans from the towel and hang up to dry.

"You'll notice that doing this will allow your jeans to dry much faster, as you've successfully removed any excess moisture."

Lora cautioned to always check the correct spin cycle against manufacturer instructions and test new drying methods on part of the garment first to avoid damage.

She also said you should look at the airflow when hanging clothes to optimise drying.

Lora said: "Knowing how to properly use your indoor airer is essential when you don't have or are avoiding using a tumble dryer.

"Often musty odours develop on clothes when they're not dried properly, so it's vital to hang clothes correctly on your dryer.

"To do so ensure each garment is shaken (to reduce creasing) then hung on your airer, placing slower drying items towards the edge of the airer and ensuring clothes do not overlap to allow your clothes to dry.

"It is key to ensure your airer has sufficient space between the lines to ensure air can flow freely. Enhanced airflow means that less moisture is trapped between your clothes, which significantly reduces drying time - and eliminates the risk of damp smells clinging to fabric.

"If the weather is dry, you can boost airflow and speed up drying time further by opening the window of the room your clothes are drying in, even if it's cold outside.

"To prevent a cold draft travelling throughout the house, make sure you close the door of the room where your clothes are drying".

Lora recommends the , saying it has space between the lines and can be extended so there is plenty of room.

It is currently available at and comes with a five-year warranty, and has more than 100 five-star reviews.

One said: "It's and has very large, strong, drying areas and most importantly, when not in use it easily folds flat and stores easily alongside the ironing board at the end of our Welsh Dresser. We use this new frame regularly and love it!"

Another said: "Really useful to use. Super easy to assemble. . Great for sheets, duvet covers and large pieces of linen or clothing. Folds very easily and is sturdy. Would highly recommend."

However, one thought there could have been even more room; they said: "I ordered this as it looked good, but the legs don't have any rails on them, so there is a lot of wasted space that you could use for small items.

"You need a lot of space to use it fully extended and the rails that open up each side take even more room. I decided to return it as it wasn't right for me. It was quite sturdy though."

If you need more upright airer, Vileda also have their , or there is the .

And if you are looking for something cheaper, there is the for £12.
