OpenAI makes motorsports debut through partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing

Two-time IndyCar championship-winning team Chip Ganassi Racing has announced a strategic research partnership with OpenAI.

This is the first time an artificial intelligence (AI) company has entered the world of motorsports.

The alliance will leverage OpenAI's AI technology and research capabilities, to improve performance on the racetrack as well as in administrative operations.

Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, was equally excited about the partnership.

He said racing has always been a proving ground for innovation and they're excited to explore how their AI technology can contribute alongside the incredible talent at Chip Ganassi Racing.

Altman further emphasized that every detail counts in IndyCar, and they're eager to see how advanced technology can support the team's expertise in pushing performance forward.

The partnership will see Ganassi's race teams working closely with OpenAI's engineers.
