Actress Paoli Dam , who made her Bollywood debut with Hate Story , continued acting in Bengali films and did not pursue a career in Bollywood. The actress shares how there weren't interesting offers lined up after Hate Story.
Paoli, who will be seen in an upcoming NFDC film Chaad-The Terrace , in Bengal cinema, shares, "Hate Story was a woman centric film and the film did well. But I hate it when makers slot you in similar roles. After Hate Story, I was offered similar roles and I didn't want to get stereotyped. It is high time we move away from patriarchal films in Bollywood. I feel most films in Bollywood revolve around the male star and we are not showing enough women-centric films. We need to portray strong women characters, stories that revolve around women characters. OTT has changed that a lot and I did get some interesting roles in the web space but we are still a far way to go so far as Bollywood films are concerned."
The actress shares further, "I am glad that Bengali cinema has offered me very interesting roles. There is a lot to do. Also, we should have more women filmmakers. It is important to make films from the woman's perspective. I am hoping that my role in Chaad-The Terrace will connect with masses."
After Hate Story, Paoli acted in Ankur Arora Murder Case, Raat Baaki Hai and web shows like Charlie Chopra and The Great Indian Murder. Paoli said, "Web is offering very interesting roles for women now. I am glad that the space has interesting stories and actors like us get to showcase our talent."
