Sushil Kumar Gets Bail: Indian wrestling veteran and two -time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar has got a big relief from the Delhi High Court. He has now got regular bail after spending almost three years in Tihar Jail in the Junior Wrestler Sagar Dhankhar murder case in 2021. Earlier in 2023, he was granted seven days interim bail for knee surgery. But now after relief from the court, they can come out of jail.
The incident took place on the night of 4 and 5 May 2021, when Junior wrestler Sagar Dhankhar and his friends were attacked at Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi. According to the police charge sheet, Sushil Kumar and his associates together beat Sagar and his two companions Sonu and Amit Kumar badly. Sagar died after this attack. A video to this case also went viral on social media, in which some people were seen beating someone with sticks. After the video surfaced, the allegations against Sushil Kumar became stronger.
Police investigation revealed that Sagar and his friends were first kidnapped, then brought to Chhatrasal Stadium. The gate of the stadium was closed from inside and the security guards were also removed. After this, for about 30 to 40 minutes, all the victims were beaten up badly with sticks, poles, hockey sticks and baseball bat.
Investigation revealed that there was a property dispute behind this entire incident. Both groups of wrestlers were involved in the purchase, sale and forced recovery of a disputed land. According to reports, the names of criminals like gangsters Kala Jatheri and Neeraj Bawania were also involved in this dispute.
After getting bail from the court, Sushil Kumar can come out of jail, but the hearing of this case will continue. In such a situation, the thing to see will be that Sushil Kumar will be completely acquitted or he will have to go through any other legal process further. Now the question also arises that Sushil Kumar, who ever won the medal for the country, will be able to improve his image after this matter? Or will his career and name be entangled in this controversy forever?
