If you also invest in the National Pension System (NPS), then this news can be very beneficial for you. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has decided to implement T+0 Settlement System for NPS investors. This change simply means that now the NPS contribution deposited by 11 am will be invested on the same day. This will give investors the benefit of the same day net asset value (NAV) and their investment will be more effective than before.

Earlier investments were made on the basis of T +1

Till now the investment made in NPS was settled on the basis of T+1. That is, if you invested someday, your money used to invest in the market the next day.

According to PFRDA's statement:

  • Earlier, the investment amount received till 9:30 am was considered for investment on the same day.
  • Now by 11 am, the contribution received by the Trustee Bank will also be invested on the same day.
  • This will allow investors to get the benefit of NAV on the same day, which will increase their chances of returns.

What will be the benefit of NPS investors?

  1. Rapid investment process – Earlier where investment was made the next day, now the investment from T+0 Settlement will be made on the same day.
  2. Benefits of better NAV – On the day the money is deposited, the same day will be investment according to the NAV, which will increase the chances of getting more benefits.
  3. Time savings – Investment process will not be delayed and investors will get quick returns.
  4. Transparency in investment – Investors will immediately know where their money and on which day the NAV has been invested.

NPS investment is now easier and faster than before

PFRDA has advised the Point of Prajance (POP), Nodal Office and NPS Trust working under E-NPS to update their operations according to the new deadline. This will provide ease and transparency to investors.

Now D-Remit Money done till 11 am will be invested on the same day and will get a return based on the same day. This will make it even more simple and profitable for investors to invest in NPS.

Investment in NPS is growing rapidly

According to data released by the Pension Regulator, 9.47 lakh new subscribers in FY 2023-24 are connected to NPS from non-government areas. For this reason, the total amount of investment in NPS has increased by 30.5% to Rs 11.73 lakh crore.

Other than this:

  • As of 31 May 2024, the total subscribers of NPS have been 18 crores.
  • By 20 June 2024, there have been more than 6.62 crore enrollment in the Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
  • In FY 2023-24, APY alone has made more than 1.2 crore new nominations.
