JEE NEET Tips: These days more than 42 lakh students are taking the CBSE Board Exam 2025. Many lakhs of them will also take exams like JEE for BTech and NEET for medical college. Many students studying from ICSE or State Board are admission to CBSE Board School in 11th. Many people believe that the CBSE Board Syllabus is perfect for JEE and NEET preparation.
CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj has told many things in this regard in an interview given to Indian Express. He said that there are central and state boards in India. The study and syllabus of compulsory subjects for NEET and JEE are quite similar across the country. All students study in school throughout the year and qualified teachers teach the relevant curriculum. Therefore, it cannot be said that students of a particular board are in a more profitable position than the students of other boards.
Do CBSE students get benefits in preparing for JEE, and NEET?
CBSE board students get certain advantages in preparing for competitive exams like NEET and JEE, which are related to the structure and syllabus of their studies. However, this advantage does not depend entirely on the board. To pass the JEE and NEET exams, the hard work and preparation strategy of the student is equally important. The CBSE 11th and 12th syllabus matches with the NEET and JEE syllabus. For example, the biology topics (human physiology, genetics and ecology) asked in NEET are well covered in the CBSE syllabus. The maths and physics topics (calculus, mechanics, and electrostatics) for JEE are also linked to CBSE. At the same time, the syllabus of some state boards or ICSE is wider. It includes additional topics, which are not necessary for these exams.

CBSE board exams focus on objective and concept-based questions, which are similar to the pattern of NEET and JEE Main. This helps students get used to the format of these exams. JEE Advanced requires deep analysis, but CBSE's basic foundation helps make it easier. In such a situation, students appearing for the 11th, and 12th exams from the CBSE board get help in cracking JEE.
3- Availability of resources
Coaching centers, study material, and online resources are more easily available for CBSE students. Most of the coaching institutes in the country follow the CBSE syllabus. For example, in coaching hubs like Kota, most of the study material is based on CBSE and NCERT. Due to this, students keep preparing for the JEE and NEET exams along with CBSE 12th board exam.
Is this advantage decisive?
No, not completely. Students of state boards, ICSE or other boards also perform well in NEET and JEE. Many state boards have aligned their syllabus according to NEET and JEE. Also, if the student reads and practices NCERT books well, then the board does not matter. For example, students from states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh top NEET even after studying from state boards because their preparation is strong.
