In a surprising confession, Robert Pattinson, an actor, revealed that he has become “too sensitive” to view horror movies. The actor revealed, in a recent video interview to GQ, how his sensitivity towards watching scary movies has developed over time. Though he had been interested in “dark stuff” as a young man, he now is not able to cope with the level of violence in the genre.
A Change in Sensitivity
Pattinson, best known for his roles in Twilight and The Batman, explained that he used to think watching horror films was “cool,” but his attitude has shifted as he’s gotten older. “Now I’m too sensitive,” he confessed. “It’s strange; you’d think it would go the other way around.” Rather than growing accustomed to the frightening nature of these films as he aged, Pattinson says that his sensitivity has increased over time.

During his explanation of the change in his viewing of films, Pattinson also broached a theory offered by Mickey 17 director Bong Joon-ho. The director opined that having a child could have been a reason behind Pattinson’s current fearfulness. But Pattinson explained that his unease with horror movies was in place prior to the arrival of his first child in 2024 with Suki Waterhouse.
A Chilling Encounter
Pattinson shared a specific instance when he found himself becoming extremely paranoid after seeing a horror movie that was directed by a person whom he met. He remembered sitting on his couch, holding two kitchen knives, feeling that someone was attempting to intrude into his house. He ended up laughing and saying that probably it was just a squirrel, but the incident shook him immensely.
