Aadhar Card Update: Aadhar Card has become an important document in today's time. Although it is not a proof of citizenship, it is mandatory for many important works including government work. From admission to school to opening a bank account, Aadhar is required everywhere. But do you know that it is mandatory to update the Aadhar card of children between the ages of 5 years and 15 years?

If it is not updated, then there may be problems in further studies, competitive exams, and other work.

Why is Aadhar update necessary at 5 years and 15 years?

According to the rules of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), a biometric update is necessary twice on the Aadhar card of children. First time at the age of 5 years and second time at the age of 15 years. This process is called Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU). In this, the child's photo, fingerprints, and eye scanning (iris) are recorded again.

UIDAI recently told in a post that it is very important to get the biometrics of children updated. If this update is not done, then there may be a problem in registration for any kind of study or competitive exam in the future. Therefore, get Aadhaar updated at the age of 5 years and 15 years in time and avoid any problems.

How is Aadhaar made for small children?

Biometrics is not taken in the Aadhaar card of children below 5 years of age. Their Aadhaar is made based on the documents of the parents. This is called Baal Aadhaar. But as soon as the child turns 5 years old, it is necessary to add his fingerprint and iris scan. This process is free and it can be done by visiting the nearest Aadhaar center.

Why is it necessary to update again at the age of 15?

Along with the body of children, their biometrics also keep changing. Therefore, it is necessary to get the biometrics updated again at the age of 15. In this update, the child's fingerprint, iris scan, and new photo are added, so that the Aadhaar card remains valid in the future as well.

What will happen if the child's Aadhaar is not updated?

If you do not update your child's Aadhaar on time, then many types of problems can arise in the future, such as:

There may be problems with admission to school and college.

There may be problems in applying for competitive examinations.

You may be deprived of the benefits of government schemes.

There may be problems in opening a bank account.

Will there be any fee for updating the child's Aadhaar?

If the child's Aadhaar is updated at the age of 5 to 7 years or 15 to 17 years and this is the first time the biometric update is being done, then there will be no charge for this. UIDAI provides this service free of cost so that everyone can easily update their children's Aadhaar. But if the update has to be done later to correct any mistake, then a nominal charge may have to be paid.

Where to get children's Aadhaar updated?

If your child's biometrics have not been updated, then it is necessary to get it done as soon as possible. This update can be done by visiting the nearest Aadhaar enrollment center. There is no online process for getting this type of Aadhaar updated, so you will have to go to the center itself. You can know the address of your Aadhaar center from the UIDAI website or the Bhuvan Aadhaar portal.

Aadhaar update centers are present in banks, post offices, government offices, and some other authorized places all over India. You can find out the address of your nearest Aadhaar center in two ways: First, go to the UIDAI website. Click on the 'Locate Enrollment Center' option. Enter your state, district, and PIN code. After this, you will get complete information about the nearest Aadhaar center.

At the same time, UIDAI has also provided the facility to find the center through the 'Bhuvan Aadhaar Portal'. By visiting this portal, you can get information about the nearest Aadhaar center by looking at the map of your area.

How to get Aadhaar updated?

Follow these easy steps to update the biometrics of children:

Go to the nearest Aadhaar centre with the child's old Aadhaar card and parent's Aadhaar card (for identification) and necessary documents.

Here the biometric process i.e. child's fingerprint, iris scan, and a new photo will be taken.

A small form will have to be filled for an Aadhaar update, in which the current information of the child will be given.

Fill out this form and verify all the information.

After the Aadhaar update process is completed, you will be given an Acknowledgement Slip, through which you can check the status of your Aadhaar update later.
