Sharjah on Thursday, March 6, said that the SMS payment format for public parking users has been unified across all cities in the emirate.

The Sharjah Municipality also said that the city code 'KH' previously used in Khor Fakkan has been discontinued.

The civic body said that it is part of the continuous efforts to enhance the public parking experience across Sharjah and provide a more seamless and efficient service.

The municipality added that motorists can now send an SMS to 5566 with the plate's source, number and duration of parking in hours as shown here:

Sharjah had made multiple changes in its since the last quarter of 2024 — seven-day parking zones, smart parking system, parking fee in Al Dhaid, parking fee in Kalba city.

A total of 392 parking spaces are available in 2 smart parking areas that opened in Al Khan and Al Nad.

Last week, Sharjah had to pay public parking fees, check and settle fines. The app, which is called Mawqef, features interactive maps to easily locate subscription zones and smart parking yards around the emirate. Users will also receive app notifications about their usage of parking places and renewing their subscriptions.
