One of the most well-known actresses in the business, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, recently reflected on the 15th anniversary of her first movie, Ye Maaya Chesave (YMC). The actress still has a special place in her heart for her first movie, even after more than ten and a half years in the business.
Samantha and her ex-husband Naga Chaitanya were first seen in Gautham Menon’s Telugu adaptation of the Tamil movie Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa, Ye Maaya Chesave. The actress recently recalled the early days of her career with affection, saying she still recalls every shot she delivered for the movie.
The gate encounter with Karthik was the first scene I filmed. Because I had such a great time working with Gautham Menon, I remember every tiny detail of that occasion. Thinking back on the memorable moments of her debut, she said, “He knew exactly what he wanted and how the character should come across.”
Thanks in large part to the music of A.R. Rahman, Ye Maaya Chesave became a big hit. Samantha went on to feature in a number of popular movies after this breakthrough, such as Brindavanam, Dookudu, Eega, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Attarintiki Daredi, and many more.
She most recently starred in Citadel: Honey Bunny, a web series on Prime Video, and Kushi. With her next project, Ma Inti Bangaram, Samantha is entering the film industry in addition to working on another web series, Rakt Brahmand: The Bloody Kingdom.
