Jet2 has axed two summer 2025 routes from the UK, just six months after announcing them, due to a lack of bookings.
Jet2 has just announced that it is cancelling two summer 2025 routes from Manchester and Birmingham to Salerno, famous for the scenic claiming that there has been insufficient bookings for its holiday packages. The two routes were originally announced in August 2024.
Salerno is a port city, southeast of and features a wealth of history. The destination is the gateway to some of the most scenic sites in Italy, including the Amalfi Coast, Paestum, and Pompei.

With the cancellation of these two routes, Jet2 also announced that it would be increasing its number of flights to Naples, Italy.
Since January 1, 2024, Jet2 has added over 40 routes from the UK, including in Southern Europe and Northern Africa. However, more than six routes have been cancelled since January 2024.
Anton Radchenko, aviation expert and founder of commented: “Jet2 has consistently been one of the most punctual airlines in the UK, so with these cancellations, passengers will have to explore other options such as easyJet & Ryanair, which are not at par with Jet2’s on-time performance.
"Plus, Amalfi Coast, one of the most popular European beach destinations, is closer to Salerno than Naples. With a difference of nearly 60 kms, passengers will take an hour extra, while paying higher on-ground costs. However, on the positive side, Naples offers more flight options and is a larger hub, making it more appealing for travellers with flexible itineraries.
"Although these routes were not yet operational, this will directly affect UK travellers planning to get convenient access to the Amalfi Coast, leveraging Jet2’s holiday packages, which include flights, accommodation, and transfers. These cancellations reflect broader trends in the industry, with airlines adjusting routes based on demand.
"My top advice to passengers is to book early whenever a new route is announced, or the airlines will scrap it later citing low interest. Remember that demand dictates airlines’ decisions, so you need to be proactive. With Jet2 increasing routes to Naples, book ahead of time, ideally within days of the announcement, and you’ll save yourself from the hassle later.
"Since other airlines serving Salerno remain operational, the competition will force Jet2 to price Naples’s flights competitively, benefitting passengers."
A spokesperson said: "As a successful business, we are continually reviewing our flying programme and will make adjustments where required. This gives us the ability to add flights and holidays in response to demand, and very occasionally we may withdraw flights too.
