Allu Arjun carved a pan-Indian persona with his performance in the ‘ Pushpa ’ franchise. The actor once revealed why he did not launch himself in the Tamil market with dubbed versions of his films during the early stages of his career, despite receiving immense love from Mollywood for the Malayalam versions of his movies.
Allu shared his perspective on Suriya ’s experience in the movie market after ‘ Ghajini ’ was dubbed into several languages. Ahead of the release of Julayi in 2012, Allu Arjun spoke about his approach to his career in an interview with Asianet. While many of his peers were experimenting with multilingual releases, Arjun had a distinct strategy. His films were already being dubbed and well-received in Malayalam, earning him the title ' Mallu Arjun .' However, despite the lucrative opportunities, he deliberately avoided launching his films in Tamil at the time.

Tamil cinema was a thriving industry, known for balancing mass entertainers with strong content-driven films during that period as well. “All credit goes to my father. For instance, whether it was Chiranjeevi or Nagarjuna, they developed a market outside Telugu by delivering successes in other languages. But then, it led to a different problem,” he explained.
Elaborating on the challenges actors face when entering a new market, he pointed out how it could impact their image and business. “When a film of yours performs well in another market, they immediately start dumping the dubbed versions of your older films into the market. I saw this happen with Suriya after the success of Ghajini,” Arjun remarked.
According to him, when Ghajini stole the spotlight, people started releasing dubbed versions of Suriya’s older films. Those movies, made five to ten years earlier, might not have been on the same level as Ghajini. “They weren’t as upgraded in form or format. What happens is that it kills the actor’s market,” he added.
Arjun remained patient with his entry into the Tamil film industry. “I held back from dubbing them because I was banking on Tamil cinema. I am very familiar with the language, and after Telugu, Tamil is the language I am most comfortable with,” he revealed.

On the work front, Allu Arjun is expected to begin shooting for his next movie with Trivikram Srinivas following the global success of 'Pushpa 2'.
