cheque bounce case of Rs 7 crore is going on in Chandigarh District Court against Vinod Sehwag, brother of former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag. This case has been filed by Baddi-based company Shri Naina Plastic against Delhi-based Jalta Food and Beverages and its three directors Vinod Sehwag, Vishnu Mittal and Sudhir Malhotra. In this case, last year, the lower court had summoned Vinod Sehwag and the three directors to appear in court as accused. But now he has filed a revision petition in the sessions court against the court's summoning order. Sehwag's brother said that the decision to make him an accused is wrong. He is neither a director nor an employee in this company. He also has no role in the day to day affairs of the company.

Shri Naina Plastic Company's lawyer Vikas Sagar told that Jalta Company had given an order to supply some material from his company. This material was worth around 7 crores rupees. In lieu of this, Jalta Company gave 7 bank cheques of Rs 1 crore each to the complainant company in June 2018. But when the complainant company deposited these cheques in the account, they bounced due to lack of funds. The complainant company informed Jalta Company. But after two months, when the cheques were not cleared, a legal notice was given against the company and the directors and demanded payment within 15 days. When the company did not make the payment even after the legal notice, then they filed a case of cheque bounce.

Sehwag's brother had taken bail. Earlier, the lower court had summoned all the three accused including Vinod Sehwag to appear as accused, but despite this they did not come to the court. On this, the court issued their bailable and then non-bailable warrants of arrest. Even after this, when they did not come to the court, the process of declaring them fugitives (PO proceedings) was started against them. Then on 22 July 2019, Vinod Sehwag reached the court and he was granted bail on a surety of Rs 2 lakh. After this, he challenged the summoning order in the sessions court in October 2019.
