favourite Warwick Davis has shared a heartbreaking confession about his life following the sudden death of his wife, Samantha. The mum-of-three sadly died at the age of 53 last April after a challenging battle with sepsis, meningitis, and Strep B infections.
Last month, the actor brought viewers to tears after his heartfelt tribute to his late wife during his acceptance speech at the BAFTAs. The Willow star was awarded the Fellowship prize, known as BAFTA's highest honour. Previous recipients include Maggie Smith, Mike Leigh, Samantha Morton, Martin Scorsese, and Sir Sidney Poitier.
The 55-year-old film star became emotional as he admitted that "life has been pretty tough" since Samantha's passing, praising his late wife for "always supporting" his career and encouraging him to go for roles.
On Friday (March 7), the Harry Potter star joined Ashley Walters, Jodie Whittaker, and Daisy May Cooper on The Jonathan Ross Show where he opened up about how life has been since her passing.
He told the talk-show host: "When you go through your career as an actor, you sometimes become a bit reluctant to do certain jobs thinking another one will come along and be a bit better.
"She would always say 'Get out there and do it'. She was great at networking as well, always talking to producers and getting me the work in the next job. Very supportive. You need that in this business because it is difficult.
"You've got to have someone who is very supportive of you being away on occasions and working ridiculous hours. Acting is quite a lonely career, really. You need a solid foundation at home to support that and make it work."
Jonathan went on to quiz Warwick about the identity of 'Sponge' who he mentioned had helped him to "love again". He replied: "I can reveal, sticking with the Harry Potter Theme, Sponge is indeed She-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named.
Referring to Daisy May Cooper's character Kerry Mucklowe, he added: "Sponge very much reminds me of Kerry. Some of the things she says and her accent".
The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Fridays from 9pm on ITV1 or catch up on ITVX.
