March 8, Mumbai ‘Munjya’ actress Mona Singh, who is commemorating International Women’s Day on Saturday, has advocated for more representation of women in the film industry.
The actress stated, “In my opinion, the most important change that needs to happen to empower women in our entertainment industry is a need to increase representation of women, promote diversity, and create more equal opportunities.” She went on to advocate for greater female representation in order to empower women in the industry.
“I believe that by expanding the number of women in front of and behind the camera, developing more nuanced and complex female characters, giving diverse female voices a platform, and challenging stereotypes,” she said. This, I believe, is how we will change.
Regarding her career, the actress most recently starred in the unexpectedly successful film “Munjya” and the streaming series “Kaala Paani.” The film is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and is part of the Maddock Films spooky realm. Sathyaraj, Abhay Verma, and Sharvari Wagh were also featured.
The movie centers on the tale of Munjya, which was influenced by Indian mythology and folklore in Maharashtra’s Konkan area. The ghosts of males who passed away after this rite but before marriage are said to reside in peepal trees and are known as Munjya in Maharashtra and around the Konkan coast.
They are characterized as intrepid, multilingual, restless bachelor ghosts that prowl among trees at night.
The movie tells the tale of Gotya, a young Brahmin lad who falls in love with Munni, a girl who is seven years his senior. Gotya tries to poison him after her marriage is planned with another guy. Gotya, who is adamant on marrying Munni, brings his sister Gita to a deep forest to use black magic under a peepal tree. He unintentionally kills himself in the process.
