In the early 2000s, B’town was abuzz with the rumours and relationships involving three Bollywood stars, Salman Khan , Aishwarya Rai , and Vivek Oberoi . Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai's relationship, which began in 1999, ended in 2002 amidst allegations of abuse and infidelity. Following this, Aishwarya was linked to Vivek Oberoi, leading to a highly publicised feud between Salman and Vivek. In 2003, Vivek claimed that Salman had threatened him due to his association with Aishwarya. This later turned into a big feud, keeping both actors at odds for years. The dispute gained much attention and reportedly had a negative impact on Vivek’s Bollywood career.
Years later, in a candid interview on Dr. Jai Madaan's YouTube channel back in December 2024, Vivek Oberoi reflected on his past relationships and the lessons he had learned. When prompted to respond with a word or phrase about Salman Khan, Vivek simply remarked, "God bless him." Similarly, upon hearing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's name, he responded, "God bless her." However, when asked about Aishwarya's husband, Abhishek Bachchan , Vivek praised him, saying, "He's a sweetheart, a really nice person."

The ‘Saathiya’ actor admitted that being a celebrity makes every experience feel bigger. “Your breakup becomes world news,” he said. However, he managed to move forward. When asked what advice he would give to someone dealing with heartbreak, he said, “If someone is leaving your life, think of it this way. A child drops his lollipop in the mud, his mother won’t allow him to eat it because it is dirty, would she? Life will give you a new partner. The longer you stay with pain the more it’ll grow.”
Vivek added, “I’m speaking from personal experience. Sometimes, we go into abusive relationships, relationships where people are using you, people are not valuing you, not respecting you. You go into that relationship because you haven’t identified your self-worth. You think it’s right to have a fatalist attitude, thinking, ‘I don’t care, I can give my life also’. But you have to value yourself.”

During the same conversation, he was asked how his past experiences had shaped him. He was also asked if the difficult times he had faced helped him live the life he had now. He replied, “Perhaps I would’ve become a superficial person, living a superficial life. Perhaps I would’ve become plastic myself, among people with plastic smiles. If people troll me now, I don’t care. Because I know my purpose in life, I know what is the most important to me.”
