India star batter suffered an injury after getting hit by a ball near his knee during a practice session ahead of the all-important Champions Trophy final against New Zealand on Sunday, according to a report by Geo News.
Kohli was hit near his knee by a ball which was bowled by a pacer, prompting him to stop practicing. Soon, the physios attended to him, applying spray and wrapping up the area with bandage.
Despite the pain, Kohli observed the rest of the training session and even reassured teammates and staff about his condition.
The coaching staff later clarified that the injury isn’t serious and that Kohli will be fit to feature in the final against the Black Caps in Dubai.
India previously have faced New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy. Back in the year 2000, the Black Caps emerged victorious in the final thanks to an unbeaten century by Chris Cairns.
Not just this, in 2021 New Zealand also beat India in the World Test Championship final, denying the latter from becoming the first-ever team to win the trophy. The Men in Blue will be looking to put painful history behind when they take the field on Sunday in the Champions Trophy final.
