star Martelle Edinborough has cryptically lifted the lid on her character's exit from the long-running soap and the reason for her departure. The actress joined the cast in 2022 as event planner Suzy Merton and instantly became a fan favourite, but after three years, the character met her untimely demise.
Last month, viewers were left on the edge of their seats as resulted in , which saw the fate of many villagers hanging in the balance. It was later revealed that Suzy was among four who died, and after fatally hitting her head, she was found under the lake. After thanking fans and sharing that "a new chapter begins," Edinborough posted a cryptic message on social media.
Alongside a professional photo of herself, the actress penned: "Some doors close cos your spirit outgrew the room."
Edinborough was inundated with support from viewers who demanded her return to screens and insisted that bosses made a mistake.
One wrote: "Suzy and Mary was a missed opportunity. Thank you to you and Lou J for bringing these characters to life in an authentic way. I'm sad it wasn't explored more - I was rooting for you guys!"

This comes after Edinborough confirmed her ITV soap journey had come to an end as she shared: "And just like that....Suzy is no more and a new chapter begins! What an ep!

On Instagram, she continued: "I have met some truly beautiful souls working on this show and will be forever grateful for the amazing connections I'm coming away with.
