A few days before the start of the season, Kolkata Knight Riders have included a world -winning coach in their camp. Kolkata has appointed Otis Gibson as its assistant coach for IPL 2025. He has replaced Ryan Ten Doeshet. KKR will play the first match of IPL 2025 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Eden Gardens on 22 March.
Gautam Gambhir and Ryan Ten Doeste, who have been with KKR till last year, are now joined with the Indian team. For this reason, the place of assistant coach and mentor in Kolkata has been vacant. From this year, there will be a change in the Kolkata team. At the same time, there will be many changes in the coaching staff.
Last year, Shreyas Iyer, who won the title to the team, was released before the mega auction and later Punjab Kings selected him and made him his captain. KKR then appointed Ajinkya Rahane as captain for IPL 2025, while Venkatesh Iyer has been made vice -captain.
Gautam Gambhir left the post of Mentor after becoming India's head coach at the end of IPL 2024. Kolkata has replaced Dwayne Bravo as mentor. The rest of the supporting staff has the same familiar face, in which Chandrakant Pandit is in the form of head coach. Apart from this, Bharat Arun, Carl Crowe, Nathan Limon and all others are present.
Former West Indies fast bowler Gibson has been in the role of coach since retiring as a cricketer. In 2007, when he was an active cricketer, he was appointed as the bowling coach of the England's Men's National Team, but then he went into full -time coaching and was the head coach of the West Indies and South Africa's men's national teams. Gibson also worked for the second time as England's bowling coach and played the same role with Bangladesh's men's national team. He has also worked with several T20 franchises as well as Yorkshire.
