In the early 2000s, Shahid and Kareena, who had played opposite each other in a number of movies, began dating in public somewhere around 2004 and continued until at least 2007.
Naturally, both of them went on to lead successful lives and jobs before eventually getting married. However, this never detracted from the pivotal roles they both played in Imtiaz Ali’s 2007 film Jab We Met, in which their characters, Geet and Aditya, shaped romance and love both on and off screen. Shahid and Kareena have almost no relationship as evidenced by their press appearances for the 2016 release of Udta Punjab.
But all of that seems to have vanished in an instant. Over the weekend, IIFA 2025 rolled out its carpet, and Shahid and Kareena’s fun exchange, embrace, and general tête-à-tête not only delighted everyone but also made them feel very nostalgic.
A fan wrote: “Back during udta punjab days they couldn’t even stand together it took them like 9 years to get to this point lol”, “Damn never expected them to talk so nicely with each other”, “Both have moved on..good to see” another added “Oh my my how did Shahid become so normal wid Kareena but it’s a pleasant change from his awkwardness”.
A comment stated that perhaps the meet symbolises compassion: “Maybe he reached out when Saif got stabbed and that broke the ice”.
“Insta reel walo ko material milgaya. Past present cross cut karne ka. Aur break up song ya shayari daalne ka”, “Now insta will be filled with shahid kareena edits” and “Lot of reels coming up with Tum se hi” a couple of comments read.
