MS Dhoni Pension: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, popularly known as Captain Cool, is one of the most successful captains of Indian cricket. Under his captaincy, India won the T20 World Cup in 2007, the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. Even after retiring from international cricket, Mahendra Singh Dhoni receives pension every month from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

 

 

 

BCCI's pension scheme

The BCCI has created a pension scheme for former cricketers, which honors their contributions and provides them financial assistance. In 2022, significant improvements were made to the scheme under the leadership of then president Sourav Ganguly, which increased the pension amount. The scheme is applicable to both male and female cricketers, with the pension amount determined based on their playing career.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni's pension amount

According to a report by Cricfit, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs and 98 T20 Internationals for India. On this basis, he gets a pension of Rs 70,000 every month from the BCCI. This amount falls in the higher category of former Test players, whose pension was increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000.

  • Sachin Tendulkar: Cricket's greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar also gets a pension of Rs 70,000 every month.
  • Yuvraj Singh: 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh gets a pension of Rs 60,000 every month.
  • Vinod Kambli: Former cricketer Vinod Kambli gets a pension of Rs 30,000 every month.
