Exciting News for Travelers! Ujjain-Garot Highway Nears Completion

Great news for commuters! The much-awaited Ujjain-Garot four-lane highway is set to become operational in the next three months, according to the latest update from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).

Latest Update on the Ujjain-Garot Highway

This 160-km-long highway will allow vehicles to travel at speeds of up to 100 km/h, making journeys quicker and more convenient. Currently, 90% of the project has been completed, with only minor work pending near the railway overbridge and Kheda Khajuria in the Ujjain region. According to NHAI Project Director M.L. Purbia, the remaining work will be finished within three months.

Direct Connection to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

This new four-lane road will directly link Ujjain to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, significantly reducing travel time and improving connectivity. With a total project cost of ₹2,660 crore, the highway is nearly ready for full operation. While the Mandsaur district border section is almost complete, only 10% of work remains on the 41-km stretch from Ujjain to Kheda Khajuria. Project Director Purbia assures that the entire route will be fully operational soon.

Improved Travel Experience Even Before Completion

Even though the project is not yet officially finished, vehicular movement has already improved due to the progress made. Travelers using this route have reported a much smoother journey. For those traveling between Ujjain, Delhi, Mumbai, and Vadodara, this highway is saving both time and fuel, making long-distance trips more efficient.

Project Assigned to Three Construction Firms

The Ujjain-Garot four-lane road project was initiated by NHAI in November 2022 and was divided among three companies for faster execution: GHV, Ravi Infra, and MKC Infra. The initial deadline for completion was July 2024, but while Ravi Infra and MKC Infra have finished their work, 10% of GHV’s portion remains incomplete. Despite an extended 207-day deadline, the remaining work is expected to be finished within a month.

The Highway Will Pass Through 89 Villages

The highway will traverse 89 villages, including:

  • Ujjain (13 villages)

  • Ghattia (10 villages)

  • Mahidpur (20 villages)

  • Barod (11 villages)

  • Dag (3 villages)

  • Gangdhar (11 villages)

  • Suwasra (10 villages)

  • Shamgarh (7 villages)

  • Garoth (4 villages)

With a maximum speed limit of 100 km/h, travel time between Ujjain and Garoth will be reduced to just 1 to 1.5 hours.

This major infrastructure development promises a smoother, faster, and more efficient travel experience for thousands of commuters. Stay tuned for more updates!
