After the Allahabad High Court order, the work of painting the royal Jama Masjid of Sambhal in Uttar Pradesh has started on Sunday. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) reached for the survey on Saturday. Employees working for dyeing and pain have reached the spot and painting work has started on the outer wall of the mosque, whose video has also surfaced.
Under the High Court order, the exterior of the Jama Masjid is to be painted. The Allahabad High Court on March 12 directed ASI to complete the work of painting in the mosque within a week. Following the court order, an ASI team evaluated the mosque on 13 March. Shakeel Warsi, a lawyer representing the mosque side in Sambhal district court, said, "The outer wall of the royal Jama Masjid in Sambhal has started on Sunday."
The royal Jama Masjid of Sambhal of Uttar Pradesh is currently in the headlines. On November 24 last year, riots erupted after the survey of the Mughal mosque Shahi Jama Masjid here. The riots erupted to such an extent that 4 people had died and many people including police personnel were injured. Where on one side, the Allahabad High Court has allowed the mosque to color and decorate with lights without any molestation in the Sambhal Jama Masjid case. At the same time, the next hearing in the case will be held on 8 April.
Masood Farooqui, secretary of the royal Jama Masjid, said on Saturday that a team of ASI came to the mosque around the afternoon and discussed how many laborers would take to paint on the outer wall of the mosque and how many items would be needed. Following the High Court order, an ASI team evaluated the mosque on 13 March. After this, the President of Shahi Jama Masjid, Zafar Ali had said that after Holi, the painting work in the mosque will start, which has started on 16 March.
Advocate Hari Shankar Jain, who is representing the Hindu side, said, Putai is only being done on the outer wall of the royal Jama Masjid. After listening to the lawyers of the sides, Justice Rohit Ranjan Aggarwal also directed ASI to install a light on the exterior of the mosque.
Earlier on Monday, the Allahabad High Court had directed the lawyer appearing on behalf of ASI to present specific evidence on what bias would be faced by painting on the outer walls of the mosque. Masjid committee counsel SFA Naqvi had said that “ASI has not revealed in its affidavit till date that it is refusing to paint and install lights outside the disputed structure.
Sadar Zafar Ali of Jama Masjid Committee says that he had filed a petition. The contractors of the Archaeological Survey of India are painting the outer walls. White, green and golden colors have been used in paint for years. This time also these three colors will be used. He says that the saffron color that Hindu parties have spoken is nonsense. They should not talk like this. There should be peace and peace in the city. Zafar says that lighting will also be done on Jama Masjid during Ramadan. They say that the paint on the mosque will bear the expenses of the Masjid Committee but maybe some expenses may be affected by Archaeological Survey of India.
