Former Indian cricket captain, MS Dhoni, recently showcased his iconic 'helicopter' shot during a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training session ahead of IPL 2025.

The 43-year-old wicketkeeper-batter, who last played competitive cricket almost 10 months ago with CSK in IPL 2024, showed no signs of age catching up with him.

A social media clip captured the moment as he expertly played the helicopter shot against Matheesha Pathirana's yorker delivery.

During the CSK training camp, which was held at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 18, Dhoni's bat connected beautifully with Pathirana's delivery.

The bowler bowled a slightly wayward yorker and it turned into a fuller one.

Reacting to the unexpected change, Dhoni played his signature helicopter shot, sending the ball over Pathirana's head and over the boundary ropes.

This display of skill revived fond memories for fans of the former Indian captain.

Records

Although Dhoni has demoted himself in the batting order, is likely to become CSK's highest run-scorer the IPL. He needs 19 more runs to go past Suresh Raina (4,687) on this list.

Dhoni could also become the oldest player with a half-century in an IPL game.

Besides, the former CSK skipper could be the first-ever wicket-keeper with 200 dismissals in the league.
