is calling time on his hit programme Travels With Mum & Dad for a heartbreaking reason. According to reports, the Countryfile presenter, 47, is concerned for his parents and the toll the schedule can have on them. Viewers got a chance to see his mother Janice and father Mike as they explored North East England over three series. But as his parents grow older, filming is believed to have become increasingly difficult.
A source told The Sun: "Matt, Janice and Mike loved filming the show together, but as time went on they needed to adapt the kind of activities they took on and how far they would travel. After filming the most recent series they all felt the demands were becoming a little too much and Matt's decided to shelve it."
They added: "The show could return but is likely to look different."
Matt told the publication, "We are parking up the caravan for now but who knows what will happen in the future."
The Channel 4 series, which began in 2022, saw Matt and his parents journey from their family farm in Durham to visit various landmarks and beauty spots from castles to muesums in a caravan.
Speaking about the series last year Matt addressed how his loved ones have adapted to the schedule.
He remarked: "They are always close to home because obviously, having a farm you can't go far.
"And plus, with dad being, like, 80, the reality of them planning to go on some sort of adventure was never going to be the case.
"Hopefully, I'm kind of inspiring people to take the older members of their family out."
For the last few years, Matt and his family have been an almost constant presence on small screen, firstly thanks to their fly on the wall docu series, Our Farm in the Dales, as cameras saw Matt, wife Nicola and their two children move back home to Durham to help his parents Mike and Janice on the family farm, as they fought to secure its future.
The show proved popular with viewers switching from More4 to Channel 4 which led to the Bakers have another ratings hit under their belts, with Travels With Mum and Dad.
