This was Keir Starmer's day of shame. After saying he would not have raised council tax back in 2023 when he was desperate to become Prime Minister, fast forward to today and it's going up a staggering £2.9billion this year.

This isn't an isolated betrayal - it's part of a pattern. He scrapped the Winter Fuel Payment for 10 million pensioners after pledging not to touch their benefits. He swore he wouldn't raise taxes on working people, yet introduced his jobs tax. He told farmers he would support them, only to tax them into the ground.

The truth is simple: you can't trust a word he says. This latest tax hike is particularly ruthless, hitting low-income families the hardest. Meanwhile, councils are struggling- not just because of rising costs, but due to Starmer's political choices.

Labour's reckless borrowing has hit record highs, while his National Insurance jobs tax is hammering councils- one of the country's largest employers. Without urgent action in next week's emergency budget, the situation will only worsen.

In Westminster, we are the only party standing up to Starmer.

While this election will be tough, Conservative councils deliver better services and lower taxes - collecting more bins, filling more potholes, and keeping streets cleaner.

Labour and Lib Dem councils, on the other hand, are raiding residents' wallets. Of the ten worst-hit areas for council tax rises, eight are Labour-run, two are Lib Dem.

Just look at Birmingham City Council, the largest local authority in Europe. Labour have driven it to the brink of bankruptcy and rat-infested rubbish is piling high on the streets. What have Labour councillors done to address it? Raised taxes on residents to record levels and awarded themselves a pay rise. It's shameful.

Because that's what Labour does best: when they run out of money, they take more from you. History shows that council tax rises are always higher under Labour Governments.

Birmingham won't have the chance to vote this May, but many other areas will, and the message is clear. Vote Labour, Get Trash.

You deserve a council that fights for you, protects services, and keeps council tax down. That's what Conservative councils do.

On May 1, don't just hope for a council that fights for residents - vote for one. Vote Conservative.
