Ansu Fati is reportedly set to leave Barcelona on a permanent basis during this summer’s transfer window, with a return to the Premier League seen as a possibility.

Ansu Free is reportedly set to leave Barcelona on a permanent basis during this summer’s transfer window.

The 22-year-old has been restricted to just eight appearances for the Catalan giants during the 2024-25 campaign, while he has not featured for Hansi Flick‘s side since the Copa del Rey clash with Barbastro back in January.

Fati was linked with a move away from Barcelona in January, but the transfer window closed with him remaining at the club.

The attacker has not even been on the bench for four of his team’s last five La Liga matches, but a six-year deal that was signed in October 2021 means that he has a contract at Camp Nou until June 2027.

Fati spent time on loan with Brighton & Hove Albion last season, managing four goals in 27 appearances, but it has been a struggle this term back at Barcelona, and according to Signingshe is set to leave the Catalan team on a permanent basis this summer.

Fati ‘set’ to leave Barcelona this summer

The report claims that there are Premier League clubs keeping an eye on his situation, with the Spain international potentially having the chance to reignite his career in English football.

Fati did show flashes of his brilliance during his time at Brighton, managing five goal contributions, and he featured on 19 occasions in the Premier League, finding the back of the net on two occasions.

It is tough to imagine the so-called elite clubs in the Premier League moving for the attacker this summer, but he certainly has the talent to earn himself a switch to a top-10 outfit, with Fulham and Crystal Palace potential options.

What went wrong for Fati at Barcelona?

Once upon a time, Fati was regarded as one of the outstanding youngsters in world football, and it did appear that he would go on to enjoy a long and successful career with Barcelona, but fitness problems have seen his career stall.

The 10-time Spain international broke into the Barcelona first team in 2019, and he has represented the Catalan giants on 120 occasions in all competitions, scoring 29 goals and registering six assists.

Fati made 33 appearances for Barcelona in 2019-20, but he was then restricted to just 25 outings in all competitions over the next two seasons due to injury problems, spending lengthy spells out for fitness reasons.

The forward was actually absent for 306 days between November 2020 and September 2021 due to a serious knee injury, and various fitness issues since then have made it almost impossible for him to rediscover his top form.

There is no question that Fati has serious talent, though, and there is still more than enough time for him to realise his potential.
