In the Auraiya area of Uttar Pradesh, a 25-year-old man was reportedly murdered by a contract assassin hired by his wife and her boyfriend only 15 days after they were married. The three have all been taken into custody. On March 19, police got a report about a guy who was laying wounded in a field, Sahar SHO Pankaj Mishra told the news agency PTI. His family members were notified when he was hospitalized to the Bidhuna community health center.

The victim, Dilip Yadav, was thereafter transported to Saifai Hospital, followed by Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and finally Agra. On March 20, his relatives took him to a hospital in Auraiya as his health deteriorated. But on the evening of March 21, he passed away.

Based on CCTV evidence, the accused—22-year-old Pragati Yadav, her boyfriend Anurag, also known as Manoj, and contract killer Ramji Chuadhary—were located and taken into custody. According to Abijith R. Shankar, Superintendent of Police (Auraiya), Pragati and Anurag plotted to assassinate Dilip Yadav. To have Chaudhary killed, they paid him Rs 2 lakh.

According to SP Abhijit R. Shankar, “On March 19, 2025, an emergency call was received on 112 stating that an injured individual was laying in a wheat field in the Auraiya district’s Sahar police station area. At first, it seemed that the victim had been assaulted by unknown individuals. Later, it was discovered that the victim was Dilip Yadav, who lived in the Dibiyapur neighborhood of Auraiya but was originally from Mainpuri.
