Why will Kohli get only 13 crores?

In fact, according to the rules of Income Tax Act, 1961, IPL earnings are counted as "income from business or profession". Therefore, this income comes under the most tax bracket. This means that Kohli will have to pay 30% tax on his 21 crore salary, because his income is more than Rs 15 lakh. Accordingly, a tax of Rs 6.3 crore is made.

At the same time, in addition to tax, 25% surcharge has to be paid if there is more than 5 crore income. According to this, Rs 1.575 crore will be deducted from his salary. After this, they will have to pay Rs 31 lakh more as 4% cess on total tax. In this way, a total of Rs 8.185 crore will be deducted from Kohli's salary and they will get only Rs 12.815 crore (about 13 crore).

Virat Kohli started his journey in IPL in 2008. Then his salary was just Rs 12 lakh. After 3 seasons, it increased to 8.28 crores in 2011. At the same time, his salary was 12 crores from 2014 to 2017, while it reached 17 crores from 2018 to 2021. From 2022 to 2024, they got 15 crore, and now their salary has increased to Rs 21 crore.
