About a month before today, the Sukhu government of Himachal was struggling with the economic crisis. He had approached the temples to run the state's expenses. But today in the same Himachal, there has been a huge increase in the salaries and allowances of the Chief Minister, ministers and MLAs. It has been increased by 24 percent. In fact, the government on Friday passed the three amendment bill related to it in the assembly. After this, the salary and allowances of CM, cabinet ministers, MLAs, Speaker and Vice President have increased by 24 percent.
However, the allowances that were available for electricity, water and telephone have been abolished. After the increase in salary and allowances, the Himachal government will get an additional burden of Rs 24 crore. In such a situation, the biggest question is that the Himachal government does not have the money to give pension to the elderly and disabled, but has the money to increase the salary of MLAs and women?
While presenting the amendment bill on the last day of the budget session, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that in view of inflation, it is necessary that the salary of public representatives should be amended. He said that it was necessary to amend the provisions that control the salaries, allowances and pension of ministers, legislators, speakers and deputy speakers. His salary structure was last amended in 2016. During the Korona epidemic, his salary was cut by about 30 percent.
After the increase in salary, from now on, CM Sukhu will get Rs 1.15 lakh every month. Earlier his salary was 95000 rupees. The salary of cabinet ministers has increased from 80 thousand to 95 thousand. The salary of MLAs has increased from 50 thousand to 70 thousand. The 20 thousand allowances that were getting for electricity, water and telephone and other things have been abolished.
The economy of Himachal Pradesh has become so bad that it does not have the money to pay even salary to government employees on time. The burden of debt has increased so much that last month he sought donations from temples. The Sukhu government reached the frame of temples for the Chief Minister Sukh Shiksha Yojana and Sukhashray Yojana. For this, CM Sukhu wrote a letter to the local DC. However, the BJP opposed his decision.
