10. Remember Me as a Time of Day

In tenth place is the season 6 finale, Remember Me as a Time of Day, which kicks off in a hospital with Peyton in critical condition after giving birth to her and Lucas's daughter Sawyer.

Thankfully, she recovers and fulfils her dream of becoming a mother after losing both her biological and adoptive mothers. However, it's the last time we see Peyton as she and Lucas decide to leave Tree Hill in her iconic Comet. Lucas makes a notable guest appearance in season 9.

This episode is likely to be re-watched by fans as it features the memorable scene where Nathan tells Haley that he's finally made it into the NBA. For any Naley fans, this is a must-see moment.

9. Pictures of You

Next on the list is season 4 episode 13, Pictures of You, which bears a striking resemblance to The Breakfast Club.

In this episode, the main characters get to know their classmates better before graduation. They're paired up with someone they're not particularly close to, and are tasked with sharing some of their deepest insecurities within an hour.

At the end of the task, they each have to take a picture that they think best describes their classmate. A standout image is of Brooke standing in front of a projector with words describing how she's not good enough written over her face, a scene that perfectly encapsulates the struggles of fitting in at high school.

8. Darkness on the Edge of Town

In season 8 episode 11, Darkness on the Edge of Town, a storm hits Tree Hill, putting Brooke, Jamie (Jackson Brundage), and Quinn (Shantel VanSanten) in life-threatening situations.

Brooke and Jamie find themselves in a worrying predicament when they are swept into a river and almost drown, while Quinn is targeted by deranged stalker Katie (Amanda Schull), and is forced to fight for her life.

This episode keeps viewers gripped throughout, especially during the tense moment when Brooke implores Julian (Austin Nichols) to rescue Jamie first. When he returns to the submerged car, Brooke is unconscious, prompting her fiancé to rush to her aid.

7. Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly

One Tree Hill often depicts grief, following the deaths of numerous characters over the series' run. However, one particularly heart-wrenching death occurs in season 6 episode 3, titled Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.

Quentin Fields (Robbie Jones) first appears in season 5 as a rebellious basketball player, but soon begins to change his ways and forms close relationships with his teacher Haley, and basketball coaches, Lucas, Skills (Antwon Tanner) and Nathan.

We were treated to final on-screen performances from Haley and Chris Keller (Tyler Hilton), and even Gavin DeGraw returned to the show to perform the iconic theme song, I Don't Want to Be.

The perfect last scene shows a flashforward with teenage Jamie taking centre stage at a basketball game, with Haley, Brooke and Nathan emotionally reflecting on their own childhoods spent in the gymnasium. What more could you ask for?

5. All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone

One Tree Hill is infamous for its season finales that usually end on a cliffhanger. Season 4 episode 24, titled All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone, took on a different role, as it set the scene before the time jump in season 5.

The episode begins with Haley going into labour and Karen (Moira Kelly) being taken to hospital for an emergency procedure at the same time.

There's also a lot of celebration, as the main characters finally graduate from high school. They reunite at a graduation party hosted by Rachel (Danneel Ackles), where everyone enjoys their last moments together as kids.

A favourite moment that frequently circulates on social media is the girls' group dance to the Spice Girls' 1996 banger Wannabe. The season concludes with the gang enjoying a game of basketball on the river court, marking the end of their adolescence in style.

4. The Show Must Go On

The finale of season 3, The Show Must Go On, packs everything you could desire in an episode. Beloved duo Nathan and Haley renew their vows in front of loved ones, following their secret elopement at the end of season 1.

Brooke, the maid of honour, delivers a heartfelt speech about love, which resonates deeply after she discovers her best friend Peyton's hidden feelings for her boyfriend Lucas.

The episode also teases a , and sees Dan (Paul Johansson) finally uncovering that his former wife Deb (Barbara Alyn Woods) had attempted to murder him earlier in the season.

But that's not all, as the episode wraps up with a nail-biting cliffhanger where Rachel and Cooper's (Michael Trucco) limo plunges off the Molina Bridge into the water below, with Nathan diving in to rescue them.

3. Danny Boy

Securing the third spot is the 11th episode of season 9, titled Danny Boy - an episode that certainly calls for tissues.

Dan Scott spends most of the series as the antagonist, but along the way, he starts to redeem himself by turning up to rescue Nathan from the Russian Mafia.

In a shocking turn of events, Dan is shot while attempting to rescue his kidnapped son and is later informed that his days are numbered. After an emotional goodbye with his daughter-in-law and grandchildren, a weary Dan is met by his deceased brother Keith (Craig Sheffer) as he crosses over.

They share a poignant moment in the school hall, where Dan infamously shot his brother in season 3, before they walk side by side into the afterlife together. Who would have thought we'd all be shedding tears for Dan Scott?

2. Some You Give Away

Coming in second place is season 4 episode 9, titled Some You Give Away, which showcases the Ravens' State Championship victory. The team manages to pay tribute to their coach, Whitey Durham (Barry Corbin), and revels in their triumph.

There are also several touching moments, such as Haley revealing to Nathan that she's pregnant with a baby boy, and Lucas finally declaring his love for Peyton.

However, the mood darkens when Haley is hit by a car, causing her terrified best friend Lucas to suffer a heart attack right next to her on the street.

1. With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept

Claiming the top spot for the fans' favourite episode of One Tree Hill is season 3 episode 16, titled With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept.

The show takes a dramatic turn when outcast Jimmy Edwards (Colin Fickes) fires a gun in the school hall. He holds a group of his classmates hostage in the tutoring centre, threatening to harm them if they call for help.

He finally releases them, but the situation escalates dramatically when Keith steps onto the campus to persuade Jimmy to relinquish the firearm.

Battling with the stress of school life, Jimmy ends his own life in the middle of the corridor, before Dan shows up and shockingly shoots his brother, but manipulates everyone else into believing it was Jimmy.

It's fair to say that One Tree Hill ranks among the top shows ever, and these episodes alone make it well worth revisiting again and again.
