Franco Morbidelli, who finished fourth in the Americas GP, revealed details of the confusing situation before the start, when unpredictable weather conditions made some riders and teams to make last-minute decisions, creating chaos on the grid.

The uncertainty about the state of the track created moments of tension on the starting grid, with everyone trying to make the right choice of tires: ‘It’s something unclear and also very strange for the fans, for the show’, Morbidelli began explaining after the race.

The Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team rider described the atmosphere of indecision that existed moments before the race: ‘I understand that the situation was really confusing, as well as the weather. When we have this kind of climate, everyone wants to maximize and make the best of every situation,’ he said.

The crucial decision came in an instant, when several riders opted to change bikes: ‘As soon as I saw people running to their bike with dry tyres, I did the same, just to cover the situation. And, fortunately, everything went well because everyone started with slick tires and there were no problems’, reported the Italian-Brazilian.

This quick adaptation to the conditions was fundamental to Morbidelli’s good final result, who achieved a solid fourth place at the Austin circuit, confirming the good moment of the VR46 team and the rider’s growing adaptation to the Ducati GP24, a bike he already knew and rode in 2024, then with Pramac.
