Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has set the target to complete land acquisition for the proposed Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor in three months. The target was set at a progress review meeting of Collector Asheesh Singh with MPIDC official sat the corporation’s regional office on Friday. 

Singh said since it is an ambitious project of Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, the administration has resolved to complete it in a mission mode. 

He instructed the officials to expedite the process of land acquisition and to obtain consent from landowners through dialogue. Officials will have to personally communicate with the land owners and resolve their problems. Pending revenue-related works should be resolved immediately. 

Some owners themselves are coming up to offer land for the project. Singh said negligence at any level in land acquisition will not be tolerated. 

While presenting the outline of the project, MPIDC Executive Director Rajesh Rathod said it was time the city made itself a centre of innovation. The Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor will be a historic step in this direction. He said if the project is developed as envisaged, the city willbecome a model instead of taking inspiration from other cities, just as the city’s cleanlinessmodel is being adopted across the country. Rathod said that a target has been set to completethe land acquisition process for the project in three months.

‘Will open doors of prosperity’

The construction of the Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor will accelerate industrial andcommercial activities, which will create a large number of jobs. The western part of the city willdevelop rapidly, and the standard of living of will improve.

What is Pithampur Economic Corridor

The Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor will be 20 km long. Starting from Sector 7 of Pithampur, it will go up to the Indore airport. It will be 75 metres wide, with 300 metres of land acquired on both sides. It will be built to promote industrial, commercial, and residential development. Connectivity between Indore and Pithampur will be better, which will reduce the travel time to just 15-20 minutes. The demand for land and its quality will improve, which will attract further investment.
