Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and India's experienced batsman Virat Kohli achieved a special feat during the IPL 2025 match against Mumbai Indians. Kohli has become the first Indian batsman to complete 13000 runs in T20 cricket. He is the fifth batsman in the world to score so many runs in the shorter format of the game.

RCB is facing Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. In this match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and decided to bowl first. Before this match, Kohli had 12983 runs in T20, but as soon as he completed 17 runs against Mumbai, he joined the list of batsmen who scored 13000 runs. Before Kohli, only Chris Gayle, Alex Hales, Shoaib Malik, and Kieron Pollard have completed 13000 runs in T20.

Second batsman to complete 13000 runs fastest

Kohli is the second batsman to reach this feat fastest. Kohli completed 13000 runs in the 386th T20 innings. Ahead of him is West Indies' legendary batsman Chris Gayle who reached this feat in 381 innings. Kohli left behind England batsman Alex Hales in this matter. Kohli completed 13000 runs in about 90 fewer innings than Hales.

During IPL 2024, Kohli crossed the 12000 T20 run mark and was the second batsman to do so in the least number of innings. In this case, too, Gayle is ahead of Kohli who completed 12000 runs in T20 in 360 innings. Talking about Indian batsmen, after Kohli, it is Rohit Sharma who has scored the most runs in T20. Rohit has 11851 runs in 438 T20 innings. Kohli made his T20 debut against Himachal Pradesh on 3 April 2007 while playing for Delhi.
