New Delhi: Veteran film producer Salim Akhtar passed away at the age of 82 at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, according to a TV9 Marathi report. The Qayamat and Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat producer had been on ventilator support for several days before he succumbed to his illness on Tuesday (April 8). According to the report, he had been battling health issues for the past few weeks and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Salim Akhtar was one of the prominent producers of the 1980s and 1990s and has produced several films under his production banner Aftab Pictures. He produced several commercially successful and critically acclaimed movies, including Choron Ki Baraat, Qayamat, Loha, Batwara, Phool Aur Angaar, Baazi, IZAZAT, ADMI, Badal, and Doodh ka karz.

Producer Salim Akhtar, Known for the 1997 Film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat, Breathed His Last on Tuesday, April 8, at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. He was 82. Akhtar launched Rani Mukerji in Raja Ki Aayegi Baraatwhich helped the actress establish a strong footing in the industry. He also launched Tamannaah Bhatia in Chand Sa Roshan Chehra, paving her way into Bollywood and South Indian cinema.

Salim Akhtar’s funeral will take place on Wednesday, April 9, at 1:30 pm. He is survived by his wife, Shama Akhtar and their son, Samad Akhtar.
