Google AI search is now letting you click or upload images to answer queries with better and faster responses from the AI model.

Google AI search now works via Lens on your Android or iOS phone

Google is extending the AI search mode to support more features, which includes the ability to upload images. The multimodal search has been developed over the last few years and Google now claims the AI mode is capable of giving comprehensive responses to your queries.

The company offered the unique AI mode for its premium AI subscribers till date but further expansion and availability has been announced based on the early feedback for the tools.

Google AI Gets Better: How It Compares With ChatGPT?

The AI mode is available in the experimental version called Labs that people can sign up for with their Google account and try it out today if you are in the US. For other users, the AI Mode will be rolling out in the near future.

Here’s what Google Chief Sundar Pichai said in a post on X this week:

So, what does the new multimodal AI search bring for the users? Google says you will get AI-powered answers for the toughest and most complex queries. You can do these tasks using voice, text, upload an image or even click using the phone’s camera.

The company will also assist you with additional web links and follow-up questions on your subject. “With Gemini’s multimodal capabilities, AI Mode can understand the entire scene in an image, including the context of how objects relate to one another and their unique materials, colors, shapes and arrangements,” Google explains in this post.

Google has enabled Lens across mobile and web platforms over the years and integrating AI into the mix probably feels like the obvious evolution for the company.

For instance, Lens can help you identify the books on your shelf, even suggest book titles and give you the power to widen the search to get the best results. AI mode is available in the Google app on Android and iOS by signing up for the Search Labs available in your region.
