Derek Chou, chief representative of the Taiwan Tourism Bureau in Vietnam, confirmed that her contract is set to expire in May and will not be renewed.

“The bureau has been fully informed of her involvement in the false advertising of Kera Supergreens Gummies, a fiber supplement,” Chou said.

“We have also not organized any promotional activities featuring Thuy Tien as an ambassador since March. While we recognize that she fulfilled her responsibilities well over the past year, this recent incident has damaged the image and efforts she previously built.”

“Every year, we seek a new face to serve as Taiwan’s tourism ambassador in Vietnam, so we have no plans to renew Thuy Tien’s contract,” he added.

Tien was appointed tourism ambassador in October 2024. During her tenure, she posted several travel vlogs showcasing Taiwan on her official YouTube channel.

This decision follows Tien’s ongoing controversy over alleged false advertising. In December 2024, she announced a collaboration with influencers Pham Quang Linh and Nguyen Thi Thai Hang to promote Kera Supergreens Gummies. On her Facebook page, which has over 2.6 million followers, Tien claimed that “a gummy contains a dish’s worth of vegetables,” presenting it as a healthy snack for both children and adults.

However, a consumer later reported discrepancies between the advertised claims and the product’s actual content after independent testing at the Quality Assurance and Testing Center 2. The results showed that an entire box of 30 gummies contained only 0.51 grams of fiber, far below what was advertised, triggering public backlash. In response, Tien removed the promotional posts from her page.

Police launched an investigation and arrested Linh and Hang last week for alleged “manufacturing and trading of counterfeit food or food additives” and “deceiving customers.”

Tien has been temporarily banned from leaving Vietnam from March 15 to May 15 as part of the ongoing investigation.

At 26, Tien made history as the first Vietnamese contestant to win the Miss Grand International title.
