host has shared the intriguing story of how she purchased a new home without her husband having seen it in person, and how one particular feature was 'important to me' but confessed 'I don't know why'. The 48 year old Ammanford native has relocated to an opulent Georgian property near Tittenhurst Park in Sunningdale, Berkshire. In a chat with The Times, she revealed the house's remarkable history - it was once owned by legends John Lennon and Ringo Starr. However, the deciding factor for her was the front door.

The mother-of-three stated: "It also has a double front door. I don't know why but that was really important to me. It has quite a colourful past. owned it at one point and so did Ringo Starr. Our house is very symmetrical - the kind of house I always wanted when I was little." She further explained that her husband Charlie was far away when she first saw the house, and she knew she had to act quickly, reports .

Alex recounted: "I saw it on my own originally because my husband, Charlie, was in New Zealand. I wrote a letter to Penelope and explained why it would be a lovely home for the family. She wrote back and said, 'You're exactly the type of person I want to sell this house to.'When Charlie got back, I said, 'Listen, I've sort of bought a house so we better go and see it.' Luckily he loved it immediately. It felt like home when we walked in."

Regarding the house, Alex mentioned that her family took up residence after the previous elderly occupants, and it still retains many of the aids and features from that time. She noted: "It's very care home chic at the minute, with bars and rails that we hopefully won't need for a long time."

The kitchen, she pointed out, is a relic of the 1970s, complete with the original fridge, and is actually older than she is. Despite the need for extensive renovations, Alex appreciates the underlying structure of the house, which has been well-maintained by its former owner, Penelope.

As for her plans, Alex said: "It's not listed, which is a huge plus. We need to extend on the west side of the house. There are four decent-sized rooms downstairs that are all quite square so we need to decide how we knock through and build four bedrooms upstairs."

She's currently in the process of consulting with various architects and builders to assemble a team she feels comfortable working with.
