Chennai Super Kings suffered arguably their biggest loss at home in the history of the IPL 2025 against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 25th match of the IPL 2025. CSK was dismissed for their lowest total in IPL history at home, and KKR chased down 104 with 59 balls to spare, the biggest margin of loss for CSK at home in terms of the number of balls left in the chase.
Nothing went right for CSK against KKR. Right from the toss, CSK was on the back foot. KKR won the toss and opted to bowl first. In the first 5 overs of the match, CSK was reduced to 18/2 and never got the momentum. Vijay Shankar got a couple of lives before getting dismissed, which led to the beginning of a huge collapse.
From 59/2 in 9.3 overs, CSK was reduced to 103/9 by the end of the 20 overs. KKR bowled well collectively as a unit and ran through the CSK's batting order. Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Harshit Rana were the pick of the bowlers, who claimed 3/13, 2/22, and 2/16 in their spells of 4 overs. 104 was never going to be a challenging total.

Led by Quinton De Kock and Sunil Narine's brisk starts, KKR found no difficulty in chasing the total whatsoever. While De Kock scored 23(16) before getting dismissed, Narine scored a brisk 44(18), which included 2 fours and 5 sixes. In the end, Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh stayed unbeaten with 20*(17) and 15*(12), which helped KKR to claim an 8-wicket win.
