Closure of Educational Institutions in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In light of the ongoing severe heatwave, the Odisha government has declared that all schools and colleges in the state will be closed starting Wednesday, April 23.

Suresh Pujari, the state's Revenue and Disaster Management Minister, confirmed that educational institutions will remain shut until further notice.

This decision comes after a heatwave alert was issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), predicting extreme temperatures across western, interior, and coastal regions of Odisha for the next three days. The forecast indicates that daytime temperatures will remain exceptionally high, with heatwave conditions expected to persist.

Officials have stated that this measure is intended to protect the health and safety of students, teachers, and staff. The education department has instructed all institutions to comply with this directive.
