Hit-wickets are a rarity in cricket and those happen when a batter breaks their own wickets with their bat or their body. It is one of the most unfortunate ways for a batter to get dismissed and it is one of the very few dismissals for which only and only the batter is responsible and no one else.

In Match 41 of IPL 2025 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, SRH batter Abhinav Manohar lost his wicket as he was dismissed hit-wicket of the bowling of Trent Boult. During the final over of the SRH innings, Maonhar went so deep in his crease anticipating the yorker from Boult that he smashed the stumps while trying to play a shot.

Initially, it seemed that the full delivery from Boult had clean bowled Manohar but on replays it was confirmed that it was Manohar's bat hitting the stumps instead of the ball and hence he was deemed to be hit wicket.
