Cheteshwar Pujara, known as the 'wall' of Indian cricket, may not be a part of the Indian team but he is in the headlines these days. This time the reason for him being in the news is his wife Pooja Pabari, who has shared some important anecdotes and incidents related to her husband's cricketing life in her book.

Pujara has played more than 100 Tests.

It has been more than two years since experienced batsman Cheteshwar Pujara was dropped from India's Test team. He was last seen playing for India against Australia in June 2023. Since then he has been out of the team. Pujara has scored 7195 runs in 103 Test matches for India. These include 19 centuries and 35 half-centuries. Despite the strong performance, he is not getting a place in the team.

Pujara's wife wrote the title.

Cheteshwar's wife Pooja has made some shocking revelations in her book 'The Diary of a Cricketer's Wife'. She said that during the 2018-19 Australia tour, efforts were being made to drop Pujara from the team. This incident happened when Pujara was out of form and could score only 28 runs in the Perth Test. India lost this match and at that time Pujara was also suffering from a mild hamstring problem. At that time there were discussions about dropping the experienced batsman from the team.

Puja had heard Pujara's talk.
Puja wrote - Cheteshwar enjoyed his three-day break to the fullest and did not come out of his room. He used to come out of the room only to get his hamstring injury treated. Once when he came out, he heard someone talking on the phone, in which it was said that they do not want my husband to play in the upcoming match because he is not fit. But Cheteshwar did not let it be felt that he knew the conversation going on about him and neither did he tell anyone about Papa's medical condition.

Was there a conspiracy to oust Pujara from the team?

Puja further wrote- I usually knew about the gossip and politics happening on the field from the wives of other players. Cheteshwar never told me anything. Even on the phone, he would say only three things, 'We practiced, had a team meeting and then I came back to the room. Every day, year after year, I got to hear all this. He was ready to talk about everything except his professional life. Many times I wondered if he even knew what was happening in the world around him. But I wanted to know about the person who wanted to oust him from the team. He tried to stop me, but I finally convinced him. He replied, 'The man you are praising wanted me to be ousted from the team.' I kept looking at him.

Pujara's brilliant career

Pujara was born on 25 January 1988 in Rajkot, Gujarat. His father Arvind Pujara and uncle, Bipin Pujara, were both Ranji Trophy players for Saurashtra. They laid the foundation for Cheteshwar's future in cricket. Pujara made his first-class debut for Saurashtra in December 2005 and has been a cornerstone for the team ever since. Pujara's domestic career is filled with impressive achievements. He has been the highest run-scorer for Saurashtra on several occasions. This includes the 2017-18 edition of the Ranji Trophy. There, he scored 437 runs in just four matches. His ability to anchor the innings and score big centuries has been key to Saurashtra's success in domestic cricket. In the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy, Pujara completed 50 centuries in first-class cricket.
