Who would’ve imagined that even the legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg would watch 3 Idiots—a revelation that turned into a cherished, once-in-a-lifetime memory for Kareena Kapoor?

While addressing the audiences at the WAVES Summit 2025, Kareena Kapoor revealed how Steven Spielberg recognised her at a restaurant because of 3 Idiots.

Kareena said, “I was actually in a restaurant, travelling somewhere, and Spielberg (Steven Spielberg) happened to be at the same place. This was many moons ago. That was around the time '3 Idiots' got released. He actually came up to me and asked, ‘Are you the girl in that very famous Indian film about three students?’ I said, ‘Yes, it’s me!’ He said, ‘My God, I loved that movie.”

She added, “That was truly a moment for us to cherish.”

Kareena was also asked if she would ever consider working in Hollywood.

“I think it’s just organically not happened. Having said that, films are my passion - they run in my veins. I was born into this family. Times are changing, and you never know. Chasing something has never been a part of my personality, but if it’s meant to happen, maybe a Hindi-English film will come along. After all, even Spielberg is watching our movies!” concluded Kareena.

This is not the first time Spielberg has appreciated an Indian movie and its members.

During one of the red carpet events, Steven Spielberg met SS Rajamouli and praised his magnum opus RRR.

Steven Spielberg had told Rajamouli that he had not seen anything like RRR and Rajamouli was still in awe of his presence.
