Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Shinchan: Our Dinosaur Diary takes us on an emotional yet entertaining ride in the epic world of dinosaurs—we are especially interested in how Shinchan and his friends experience this universe. Directed by Shinobu Sasaki, the film is chaotic comedy but also a story filled with emotion revolving around friendship, loyalty, and growing up.

Story: My Summer Vacation Turns Out To Be Prehistoric

The movie starts with Shinchan having high hopes for summer vacation. However, these hopes are dashed when his father gets an unexpected call and has to head to work. Having free rein, Shinchan and his friends discover a Dino’s Island park theme park which has restored dinosaurs. Everything spirals out of control when Shinchan’s dog Shiro discovers an egg that turns into a baby dinosaur. This delightful discovery takes a stressful turn, ultimately transforming it into a life-changing expedition in the worst way possible.

Animation: Hand-Drawn Charm and Bright Colors

What is most note worthy about the film is the hand drawn animation which infuses nostalgia into the vibrant world of Shinchan. Each scene is beautifully crafted, paying attention to detail. Not only is urban jungle wonderfully hand drawn but the dinosaurs are incredibly designed as well. It is expertly executed visually in a way that blends action and softness which represents the core themes of the film.

What Works: Emotion, Humor, and Heart

The response to the bond the children share with the baby dinosaur is authentic as well as moving.

For younger viewers, Shinchan’s antics and the group’s lighthearted humor keep the film accessible and fun.

Friendship and compassion, in a few scenes, might shift the perception of adults in an emotionally profound way.

The humorously vague outline provides the plot with gags that the audience has already watched within the series.

What Doesn’t Work: Pacing and Predictability

The dragging scenes are far too extended in the midsection.

For the audience that consumes family adventure films on the regular, most of the story will not hold any surprises.

Even though the movie guarantees no shocking moments, it still proves to be entertaining.

Final Verdict: A Heartwarming Shinchan Adventure

Shinchan: Our Dinosaur Diary is smarter than viewers will give it credit for – just funny and charming in equal doses-. It balances a tenderness-filled narrative without it feeling overdone and reminds us why Shinchan continues to appeal tor viewers over the years. New or returning viewers can expect a grin and perhaps a tear or two.
