Former professional has revealed that there was a time she didn't talk to her sister, for three months. During the 2019 series of the star-studded competition show, Oti would take to the stage with a celebrity contestant, while Motsi joined the panel as a judge.

When it was confirmed that the sisters would both appear on the show at the same time, they both faced backlash from viewers who shared concerns about a bias row. In an effort to silence the controversy, the siblings avoided any private contact with one another, so they wouldn't be accused of cheating. Oti, who that year clinched the Glitterbell trophy with Kevin Fletcher, said: "We were very professional, and to be fair to everyone else, it needed to be."

"I only really saw her on the show day on Saturdays when she was critiquing. Kelvin and I didn't really speak to her, either, because we were so busy."

Elsewhere, the dancer also admitted that she didn't even know her sister had become Dame Darcey Bussell's successor until the BBC announced it in July 2019.

Oti told The Sun: "I only found out on the day Motsi was announced, as production didn't tell me anything.

"They do what they do, and they did what was best for the show. Other than that, I have no control. I know how amazing Motsi I,s and to see her in that capacity, I was proud of her."

The dancer continued: "It was nice for everyone to see her and for everyone to open up to her.

"She has been doing that role for ten years and it was nice to see her judging on a show that she has always wanted to do."

Oti went on to win the series again in 2020, when she was paired with comedian Bill Bailey, and she stayed on the show for just two more seasons until her departure in 2022.

Speaking on her exit after seven seasons, the pro said her decision was driven by her desire to take on
