Three men have died after two cars collided in a village in Nottinghamshire. Two other men have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving, according to the .


The emergency services were called to Cotgrave Road, Tollerton, at about 11pm on Thursday. Police said the 23-year-old driver of one of the vehicles and two male passengers aged 19 and 21 were pronounced dead at the scene. Their families have been informed.



Nottinghamshire Police said the 26-year-old driver of the second car was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both he and his passenger, aged 20, were arrested.


Sergeant Mark Baker of Nottinghamshire Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Three men have tragically lost their lives following this incident and our thoughts are with their family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.


"The victims' relatives have been informed and will be supported by specially trained officers. We will be carrying out a thorough investigation to determine what has happened. The road will remain closed while this investigation takes place."


Firefighters from stations in West Bridgford, London Road and Highfield also attended the incident. A cordon was still in place today, stretching from Cotgrave Lane to the junction with Cotgrave Road.
