Serious M5 crash near Gloucestershire Airport shuts part of motorway Newspoint  |  2025-05-26 21:39:16


A section of the was shut earlier today following a serious crash. The latest from monitoring service Inrix read: "M5 Northbound closed due to accident investigation work from J11A A417 ( / Cirencester ) to J11 A40 (Gloucester / Golden Valley Bypass) after two cars collided at 1am this morning. Diversion - Solid Triangle signs, via the A417 west."


National Highways reported on X: "The M5 northbound remains closed between J11A Hucclecote Gloucester and J11 near Cheltenham due to an earlier collision. Police investigation work is complete however due to barrier damages, our contractor teams are en route to the scene. No delays or congestion in the area."


A CCTV image from 6.45am this morning showed the northbound section of the motorway empty.
