Riyadh : Big news is coming out. The Muslim country Saudi Arabia has lifted the ban on the sale and consumption of liquor. With this decision, there will be a purchase and sale of liquor in the country from 2026. Saudi Arabia has said that liquor sales will be limited to some areas after the ban is lifted. It has been allowed to sell liquor at 600 places across the state. This includes luxury hotels, resorts and tourist attractions that serve tourists.

The new city of Saudi Arabia, Niom, Sindh and Red Sea projects have been allowed to sell liquor. Saudi Arabia has only allowed the sale of alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine and cider. Is there still a ban on high amounts of alcohol beverages? In addition, the sale of liquor is not allowed in homes, shops or public places. Personal production has also been banned. For this, the Saudi Arabia administration has also implemented strict rules. Only the licensees are allowed to sell liquor.

Why was the ban lifted after 73 years?

Saudi Arabia’s sale and consumption has been banned since 1952. But today this ban has been lifted after 73 years. This is behind the thinking of Saudi Arabia ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS). He has taken this decision to change Saudi Arabia’s conservative Islamic image and further promote tourism in our country.

Crown Prince has started various projects to change the country’s oil -based economy under its Vision 20230. He has started organizing social programs along with cultural programs for cinema and music fields.

Another aspect of Vision 2030 is to organize sports competitions. For this, Saudi ruler Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has announced the construction and competition of state -of -the -art stadium in the country. For this, he has focused on many facilities and improvements.

Why did Saudi Arabia ban alcohol?

Drinking alcohol in Islam is considered forbidden. Due to this, the sale and consumption of liquor has been banned in Saudi Arabia since 1952. In 1951, the British Ambassador was killed by a royal prince in a drunken state. This is also a reason behind the ban on alcohol. Prince Mishari bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud, son of the then King Abdul Aziz al-Saud of Saudi Arabia, was caught drinking alcohol at an event.

The event was organized by the British Ambassador in Jeddah. The 19 -year -old Prince had drunk a large amount of alcohol during the program. After this he again demanded alcohol. But the ambassador refused the prince. At this time, the princes got angry and shot the ambassador to death. Rakumar was then sentenced to life imprisonment. A year after the incident, the sale and consumption of liquor was banned across Saudi Arabia.
